Saturday Afternoon

This past Saturday was a bit of a drama in our house. Firstly A decided to reach up high onto the kitchen table and pull a notepad off. The only problem was that Michelle's hot tea was on the notepad and so it landed all over A, giving both her and the rest of us a fright. So off to the emergency we went, but we were lucky as the burns were minor, like sunburn, and the doctor expects she will be fine in a few days.

As A was feeling fine, we headed out to a party for one of Z's friends which was held at the gym. Z and A had a great time on the mats and swings. Not to mention being great fans of birthday cake.

After the party we headed down to Golden Gate Park to the Bluegrass Festival to catch World Party. We all had a great time, despite Z breaking out with an allergy. It was extremely windy, so no doubt there was some type of pollen in the air that set him off, similar to what we experienced earlier this year. He's okay though. It was the first time he's been to one of these music festivals and he really enjoyed it. World Party was great - and as Z would tell you, so were the baked potatoes.

Happy 1st Birthday Sweetheart!

Over the last week or so we've been experiencing a series of firsts - first kisses, first sign language, first steps on her own...and of course today - A's first birthday! The morning started with Z, Mum and Dad all singing Happy Birthday to A in bed, quickly followed by Z leading the way to the presents! A was quite interested in the streamers and sticky bow attached to one of the presents - which reminded me that Z was just the same on his first birthday. The kids had a ball playing with the presents, before we headed off to the zoo for the day. It's been a while since we went to the zoo, and A is just the right age to really start taking it all in. She was watching all the animals intently and pointing to everything she could see. She was intrigued by the giraffes and gorillas and loved the flamingos and goats - as well as the ducks! We ended up spending the whole day at the zoo, and managed to grab a ride on the carousel before heading out. Tonight we had a special princess cake for A, and managed to synchronize all the grandparents, and Aunty N to sing Happy Birthday and blow out the candle by webcam!
